1. Where is Heaven Gate Waterfall?

A natural waterfall in Bidoup – Nui Ba National Park in Lam Dong province, at an altitude of 1,700m – The route is about 20km long, passing through primeval forests with many different vegetation types, along with the cool, fresh air typical of Da Lat – extremely suitable for those who want to start trekking, are looking for a gentle route to get acquainted with this type of tourism, or you are looking for a chill route to experience with friends during the holidays – THAC CONG TROI is an extremely suitable choice.
Factors that make the Thac Cong Troi route super easy for beginners. Because of the cool, pleasant climate, this is a route that is not picky about the season, except for the storm season, you can experience this route at any time of the year.

  • The 20km route is divided into 2 extremely gentle days with gentle hilly terrain and cool streams.
  • The air is cool and I’m not tired at all.
  • An interesting route with diverse vegetation, you will pass through mountains hidden in a thin layer of fog, giving the feeling of walking through clouds with a few gentle breezes blowing through the gaps between leaves, dropping the dew left from last night.

2. Journey to conquer Heaven’s Gate Waterfall

2 days 1 night journey (Or to be exact, 2 days 3 nights with 2 nights for travel if you start from Ho Chi Minh City). In this section, I will tell you about our journey to conquer Cong Troi Waterfall, read on to see how easy it is!

Skipping the travel phase, I will start the journey with day 1. Arriving in Da Lat at dawn, the organization’s car will pick you up at the gathering place, have breakfast to replenish energy, rearrange luggage and prepare to move to the edge of the forest.

Fact:
“If you normally sleep until 7am, by 7am today you’ll have finished breakfast, energized and ready to start your journey.”

Because the route was so easy, our trip included team building, team division, and preparation until about 8am. Then we started moving towards the edge of the forest.

9:00: The journey officially begins

Arrive at the edge of the forest around 9am and “Let’s go into the forest”! Starting with long gentle hills under the canopy of coniferous forests hidden in the mist, there are also sections with one side of the forest and the other side of the mountainside opening up a vast space with only two colors of green and blue sky, enough to make us excited, then inhale and exhale this atmosphere as a natural reflex!

This section is super easy, a great warm up with easy trails, in the rainy season it gets a little harder with some mud puddles, but other than dirtying your shoes they are harmless!

11:30: Rest and have lunch under the canopy of the endemic Ba-leaf pine forest

The morning journey was not tiring, so we came here to do some light games. In the spirit of survival, here we got to try our hand at making fire to cook lunch . You hear a lot about survival, you hear a lot of theories about ignition, but have you tried making fire while everything is wet? – that’s when you realize the saying “There’s no smoke without fire” is not quite right. It’s a bit strange for everyone to sell outdoor gear without lighting a fire, but in the end, the fire is still burning, the stomach is still hungry and lunch is still delicious!

The sun was at its zenith, and when the mist had cleared, everything around us appeared more clearly. No longer as hazy as in the morning, the green of the trees was fresher, the blue of the sky was clearer, and the sunlight was more yellow than the gentle yellow of Da Lat sunlight, pleasant and comfortable!
After eating, we cleaned up and took a short nap, preparing to start the afternoon journey.

13:30: Journey to the camping site

Difficulty rating of the trail: Easy as in the morning! The vegetation is more diverse with the main coniferous forest, along with countless other plant species such as orchids, ferns, mosses and colorful mushrooms, if you are lucky you can encounter species listed in the Vietnam Red Book. Walk next to the guide, your tour guide or anyone in the organization, you will be introduced to more about the vegetation here in an extremely engaging way, you will be fed leaves in the safest way, ensuring it is an extremely interesting experience.

In the afternoon there will be some great check-in spots!

15:00: Camping & waterfall bathing

The afternoon trip took about 1 hour and 30 minutes, very easy. We went down a long slope and arrived at the campsite at around 3 pm! The campsite is located in the middle of a valley next to a waterfall – yes, the main character of this trip – we have arrived at the Heaven Gate Waterfall. Set up camp quickly and then go swimming in the waterfall!
The 3-level waterfall has a swimming area with a gentle flow, and is very shallow, extremely safe, the water is of course cold but worth a try. You can sit on the shore to watch the waterfall, but since we have come this far, let’s go!

Some other activities that afternoon were preparing dinner together, filtering drinking water for the next day, eating dinner together, talking, gathering, listening to the guys tell stories… things that I told you still can’t feel all of, so let’s do it!
The evening will end when everyone is sleepy 😀

It’s morning!

Get up early, go a little further and look at the camping area like a small village in the early morning mist, with kitchen smoke – a bit bookish but this part is really peaceful!

After personal hygiene, breakfast, everyone packed up their belongings to move out of the forest.
Starting day 2 with a stream, then a steep slope – this is the most difficult slope on this route – considering this route, it is still very easy!
Today there is an additional grass hill, in the rainy season it is green, in the sun it will probably turn into burnt grass or pink grass or something, if anyone goes in the sunny season, please share!
Ending the forest trekking journey with a super wide grass hill, free to check-in!

Arrive here at 12:00, there will be a car to pick us up to return to the city for lunch!
The car ride is also extremely smooth and extremely worth trying!
Commemorative certificate for the trip!
After that, we have lunch, go to the rest stop to shower, hang out freely and that evening we will move back to HCM! – End of the journey!

3. Things to bring and things to note!

Because this is a fairly basic route, not too difficult to require many skills or tools, the equipment for it is also the most basic, including:

  • Specialized backpack, should have backpack raincoat
  • Shoe
  • Quick-drying and sun-protective clothing, hats, arm warmers
  • Water Bag: Not necessary, but much more convenient
  • Flashlight: For use at night, when moving around the campsite, for example when going to the toilet.
  • Raincoat: If you go in the rainy season, this is a must.
  • Luggage divider: You can use zip bags or dry bags, dividing your luggage (clothes) will help you get them easier and more delicately, dry bags also help separate dirty and clean clothes!
  • Sandals for camping
  • Anti-leech pants: Actually, this is not a scary thing, but it is better to be safe than sorry, a pair of elastic pants or anti-leech leggings will help you solve the problem during the journey. The principle is that there is no exposed area so the leeches cannot do anything to you. But at the camping site, it is a bit difficult to avoid. Currently, there is no medicine that can 100% protect you from leeches, so with a strong mentality and no fear, prepare hemostatic tools in case of being bitten!
  • Energy supplements for use on the road: The organizer will prepare for you a bag of candy and chocolate to eat on the road, but if you want to prepare more, chocolate, nutrition bars, sausages are popular suggestions, in addition, mineral supplements are also very necessary, especially if you are sedentary or often have cramps, you should prepare more electrolyte tablets to use on the road.
  • Health: This is an easy, extremely easy and very chill route that anyone can do. But that doesn’t mean you should skip exercising. Exercise to get your muscles used to the pace, and to make the easy trip even easier!
